FAQ
Below are some Frequently Asked Questions. If you have additional questions, please email us at office@bsasports.org
1) Where do I find the season schedule?
All sports schedules change slightly from year to year, based on the school calendar and field/court availability, but you will be able to find the tentative season schedule on the registration page once registration opens for that particular sport or on the homepage of our website. *Please note that all schedules are subject to change.
In general, we operate in 3 seasons - fall, winter and spring:
Soccer: Fall (September thru November); Winter (January thru March); Spring (April thru June) - Ages 4-13
Basketball: Winter (November thru March) - Ages 6-13
Baseball: Winter (Indoor Preseason Clinic - February/March); Spring (April thru June) - Ages 6-13
All of our programs are currently held on the campus of the International School of Brussels (ISB). ISB generously donates the use of their facilities so that BSA programs can operate. Games or tournaments may be held offsite within Brussels and other cities in Belgium.
3) What is the team structure?
We organize our teams based on age / year of birth. There may be occasions where a child can shift to another age group. This must be decided and agreed upon by the Sports Director and parent. Please select the appropriate team based on your child's age / year of birth at time of registration.
4) My child has never played before, will he/she feel welcome?
Absolutely! BSA welcomes children with all experience & skill levels and proudly supports players in learning new sports!
5) What should I do if my child is sick or otherwise cannot attend the training or a game?
Please let your coach know if your child cannot make his/her training session or game so that the coach can plan accordingly. You will be added to your team WhatsApp group so coaches can quickly share last minute information regarding training, games, events, etc. You can send a message to your team group, or a direct message to your coach.
6) Is it necessary to stay with my child during games and practices?
BSA requires a parent or guardian to be present at practices and games for all children age 8 and under. For children aged 9-12 you must accompany your child to the court to be sure that a coach is present before leaving your child. You must also be there to pick them up following the practice or game.
7) What equipment do they need?
Once registered, you will get an email regarding what your child will need for the upcoming season. All outdoor activities operate rain or shine, so waterproof clothing and a change of clothing is always recommended. In general:
Basketball: Athletic clothing (for indoors), athletic sneakers (laced, not slip on)
Baseball: Athletic clothing (for outdoors), athletic sneakers (laced, not slip on), athletic cup for boys (U10/U13)
The BSA basketball coaches are dedicated parent volunteers who offer their time to support BSA in the mission of bringing quality, community-centered sports programming to any child who wishes to play – regardless of the child’s background or ability. All coaches must complete a pre-season coaching orientation, to include basic first-aid and child safeguarding practices. Volunteer coaches are supported by the BSA Sports Directors and Managing Director throughout the season.
9) How do I pay for my registration?
In order to confirm your child’s registration, you must pay via PayPal at time of registration. After 15 minutes, the system will cancel your registration if left unpaid. We are unable to accept bank transfers. Click here for instructions if you are unfamiliar with using PayPal.
10) How much does it cost to participate?
Currently, programs that meet 1x per week (for 8-9 weeks) costs 145 euro/per player/per season. Programs that meet 2x per week (for 8-9 weeks) cost 170 euro/per player/per season. Pre/post season clinics, workshops and extended seasons have a different fee structure based on the particular schedule for that program. *Please note all fees are subject to change
11) What is the refund policy?
Please see the complete refund policy here.
12) Do you allow trial sessions?
We do not offer trial sessions. Your child must be officially registered in order to participate in any BSA sport.
13) How will I know when registration opens?
